Indicative installed prices in Québec for 2026: concrete pad, gas or propane hookup, automatic transfer switch, commissioning and testing included.
Our verdict
For a Québec single-family home, the Generac Guardian remains the best overall value: automatic transfer switch included, the densest parts and technician network in the province, a 5-year warranty and Mobile Link monitoring.
Kohler offers a rugged engine and excellent build quality, but parts and service are harder to reach outside major centres, and the installed price is higher.
Champion makes sense on a tight budget or for a cottage, but the transfer panel is often sold separately and the warranty is shorter.
Sizing guide: 7 to 10 kW covers essentials (fridge, heating, sump pump), 14 to 18 kW covers full comfort including air conditioning, and 22 to 26 kW suits a large home with a spa or EV charger. Our master electricians confirm the real load before installation.
